PITINUM thermal water can be administered and applied in the form of irrigations, inhalations and as a beverage. It has healing properties and can cure numerous pathologies thanks to mechanisms that affect the body on both local and general levels.
Everyone knows that thermal treatments “are good for you”, and sometimes you don’t even think too much about it. It is common sense, something that originates from thermalism, a tradition which has been known for centuries: Ancient Rome had a great thermal spring culture, and it is not a case medievals have left us so many testimonies to the spreading and efficacy of thermal cures. Nowadays this concept is seen in the light of modern scientific knowledge. Thermal medicine uses diagnostic and therapeutic devices which are available thanks to technological progress and scientific knowledge that promotes and develops scientific research.
PITINUM thermal water and its beneficial effects are supported by scientific publications, have medical accreditation and are well documented in the medical literature. The effects were seen in a wide range of pathologies, such as rheumatic, respiratory, gynecologic, dermatologic and gastrointestinal disorders.
PITINUM thermal water is one of the few sulphurous waters bottled in Italy: this water flows from the ancient springs of Macerata Feltria and it has high hydrogen sulfide and megnesium levels. These springs are the result of rainwaters that fall on the Appenine mountines, penetrate the ground and start a long journey of hundreds and hundrends of kilometers. During this journey, which goes on for decades, these waters are enriched with mineral salts and elements that will make them precious and important; and, when they finally come out of the ground, are used in the hot springs or bottled.
Inhalation therapy is one of the most ancient therapeutic approach to airways diseases. By sulphurous inhalations we mean the introduction of sulphurous thermal water or its gases inside the airways with the help of a special equipment that divides the water into small drops (called micelles), each one with a different diameter (see PHARAMCY MODULE). The biggest particles stop inside the superior airways (nasal and oropharyngeal cavities), while the smallest ones are able to penetrate even the smallest bronchioles.
As is stated in medical literature, sulfur waters and therefore even PITINUM thermal water have different effects on the airways:
“A local vasodilatory action leads to enhanced secretions, this vasodilatatory action causes an increased capillary permeability. The sulfur contained into the waters then produces a reduced thickness of the mucus due to the lysis of the disulfide bonds of the mucoproteins it contains, leading to the fluidification of the secretions.
Another effect is the regulation of the motion of the vibratile lashes of the nasal cavity ciliated epithelium. Sulfur waters have also a stimulating action towards the reticulo-endothelial and histiocytic system. Their effect is to decrease in the interelukin production expressed by T lymphocytes.
The effect of the sulfur waters on nasal secretions is prominent in a way that makes immunoglobulins (IgAs in particular) increase.
In addition, the hot steam causes an hyperthermia in the mucosa, and this improves tropism, regulates the mucosa activity, increases cell turnover, restores ciliar activity; and also causes secretions fluidification, which allows them to be removed quickly. As a consequence, the chances of developing pathogens are lower.”
Therefore, crenotherapy with PITINUM thermal water may give great results in a short amount of time and cure several ENT pathologies such as pharyngitis, laryngitis, rhinitis and cronic pharyngotonsillitis.
